Exclusive interview: Daisy Masterman

Daisy Masterman is an an Australian actress who played in commercials, school plays and is mostly known for playing Sydney Sage in the Bloodlines books trailers!

Daisy Masterman est une actrice australienne qui a joué dans des pubs, des pièces de théâtre à l’école et est surtout connue pour interpréter Sydney Sage dans les trailers de la série Bloodlines!

She was kind enough to give us an interview, thank you so much!

Tracey: How long have you been acting for? Is acting something that you have always wanted to do?

Daisy Masterman: I’ve been acting basically since I came out of the womb because as a child I was such a little drama queen. I dabbled in a lot of different things but it always sort of centred around the performing arts. When I was younger I would change my mind about what I wanted to be when I grew up basically every week. I would be watching a television show or movie and want to do whatever job they had. So one day I would want to be a doctor, the next, a wedding planner, the next an advertising executive, etc. When finally I realised what I really wanted to do was be the actor that got to do all those different things.

Tracey: What was it that drew you to play the role of Sydney?

Daisy Masterman: Sydney is such a great character to play. I love her intelligence and how strong she is. I’ve said this before but I really admire how she goes against the grain and follows her own heart regardless to what she’s been taught or told. I think her anal-retentiveness is a also a really fun, quirky character trait, and it’s something I can relate to! Sydney’s not your typical heroine, she does things in her own unique way and I like how different she is to anything I’ve come across before.

Tracey: Had you been a fan of the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines books before taking on the role of Sydney?

Daisy Masterman: I hadn’t read any of the books before taking on the role but since playing Sydney I’ve read all of the Bloodlines series and absolutely love it. Before the trailers though I had no idea what a big community/fandom there was out there for the books so that was a big surprise to me.

Tracey: What’s it like working with our very own gorgeous Adrian Ivashkov….Nic Wheeler?

Daisy Masterman: Nic is great to work with and we have a lot of fun together on set. If you’ve seen some of the behind the scenes videos from the trailer filmings you’ll know what I’m talking about. On there you can see some of the stuff we get up to, and that’s only the stuff we get on camera! He definitely makes me laugh!

Tracey: What was your reaction when you read the ending of The Fiery Heart?

Daisy Masterman: Oh stop. I can’t even handle it. And I had to keep quiet about it for ages because no one else had read it yet!!! It’s torture waiting for the next book – Richelle is cruel!

Tracey: What do you hope for Sydney and Adrian in Silver Shadows?

Daisy Masterman: I don’t want to give away any spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read The Fiery Heart yet, but basically that they both kick some butt.

Tracey: For anyone out there wanting to become an Actor, what advice would you give them?

Daisy Masterman: Work hard, really hard. Seriously. It’s a tough industry to break and it’s not going to happen if you’re not putting in all that you have. Always keep learning, try to get as much experience under your belt as possible, and most importantly, be on time, and know your lines.

Tracey: How would you best describe Sydney? Do you feel that there are any similarities?

Daisy Masterman: We have a bunch of things in common but we also have a lot of differences. For one I don’t have a boyfriend that’s a vampire, I’m probably more addicted to tea than coffee, and I (unfortunately) don’t have magical witch powers. I think that I share her compulsion to want to overly organize things and also her need to be in control all the time, although hopefully I’m not quite as bossy and uptight as she is!

Tracey: How long does it take to film each Teaser Trailer? Or do you film it all at once?

Daisy Masterman: The trailers are filmed all at once, and this usually takes a couple of days. They’re long and tiring days but we manage to get a lot done and it’s always really fun. After that it goes into post-production, this is a really difficult part that takes a long time because of all the editing that has to be done to put together each individual trailer clip. We don’t film the scenes or trailers in order so this chopping and changing business is done later, and then it gets released for you guys to see And me too. Because I don’t see it until you all do!

Tracey: Depuis combien de temps êtes-vous comédienne ? Avez-vous toujours voulu être comédienne ?

Daisy Masterman: Je joue la comédie depuis que je suis née car enfant, j’en faisais des tonnes. J’ai essayé différentes choses mais cela a toujours tourné autour de la comédie. Quand j’étais plus jeune, je changeais d’avis sur ce que je voulais faire plus tard quasiment toutes les semaines. Je regardais une série ou un film et je voulais faire le travail qu’ils avaient. Un jour, je voulais être docteur, le lendemain, une organisatrice de mariage, le surlendemain, une publicitaire… Jusqu’à ce que je comprenne que je souhaitais devenir une actrice qui ferait toutes ces choses différentes.

Tracey: Qu’est-ce qui vous a attiré dans le rôle de Sydney ?

Daisy Masterman: Il est tellement chouette de jouer un personnage comme Sydney. J’aime son intelligence et sa force. Je l’ai déjà dit mais j’admire vraiment qu’elle aille à contre-courant et qu’elle suive son cœur, peu importe ce qu’on lui a enseigné ou dit. Je pense que sa maniaquerie est un trait de caractère bizarre et marrant, je peux m’y identifier ! Sydney n’est pas une héroïne typique, elle fait les choses à sa manière et j’aime le fait qu’elle soit différente de tout ce que j’ai pu voir auparavant.

Tracey: Etiez-vous fan des séries Vampire Academy et Bloodlines avant de jouer Sydney ?

Daisy Masterman: Je n’avais lu aucun des livres avant de passer le casting mais depuis, j’ai lu toute la série Bloodlines et j’adore. Avant de jouer dans les trailers, je ne savais pas à quel point il y avait une telle communauté de fans derrière, cela a donc été une grande surprise.

Tracey: Ça fait quoi de travailler avec notre magnifique Adrian Ivashkov…Nic Wheeler ?

Daisy Masterman: C’est chouette de travailler avec Nic, on s’amuse beaucoup sur le plateau. Si vous avez regardé quelques vidéos des coulisses lors du tournage des trailers, vous savez de quoi je parle. Vous pouvez y voir ce qu’on fait, et c’est seulement ce qu’on enregistre ! Il me fait vraiment rire !

Tracey: Quelle a été votre réaction à la lecture de la fin de The Fiery Heart ?

Daisy Masterman: Arrête. Je ne peux pas le supporter. Et j’ai dû me taire pendant longtemps car personne ne l’avait encore lu ! C’est une vraie torture d’attendre le prochain livre, Richelle est cruelle.

Tracey: Qu’espérez-vous pour Adrian et Sydney dans Silver Shadows ?

Daisy Masterman: Je ne veux pas spoiler pour ceux qui n’ont pas encore lu The Fiery Heart, mais j’espère qu’ils vont vraiment se battre.

Tracey: Pour ceux qui souhaitent devenir acteur, quels conseils leur donneriez-vous ?

Daisy Masterman: Travaillez dur, très dur. C’est sérieux. Le milieu est difficile et rien ne se passera si vous ne donnez pas le meilleur de vous-même. Continuez à apprendre, essayez d’avoir le plus d’expérience possible, et par-dessus tout, soyez à l’heure et connaissez votre texte.

Tracey: Comment décririez-vous Sydney ? Avez-vous des points communs ?

Daisy Masterman: On a certaines choses en commun mais aussi beaucoup de différences. Pour commencer, je n’ai pas un petit ami vampire, je suis probablement plus addict au thé qu’au café, et malheureusement, je n’ai pas de pouvoirs magiques. Je pense partager son obsession pour organiser au maximum les choses et le besoin d’avoir toujours le contrôle sur tout, même si j’espère ne pas être aussi autoritaire et coincée qu’elle.

Tracey: Combien de temps faut-il pour filmer chaque teaser trailer ? Ou les filmez-vous tous en même temps ?

Daisy Masterman: On les filme tous en même temps, et ça prend en général deux-trois  jours. Ce sont des journées longues et fatigantes, mais on parvient à faire beaucoup de choses et c’est toujours amusant. Le tout part ensuite en post-production, c’est une étape difficile qui prend beaucoup de temps car il faut tout éditer et mettre ensemble chaque clip du trailer. On ne filme pas toutes les scènes ou les trailers dans l’ordre donc le coupage et la mise en commun se fait plus tard, et ensuite, on le met en ligne pour vous et pour moi aussi. Je ne le vois pas avant vous !

Exclusive: Nic Wheeler Interview

Nic Wheeler is an actor, model and artist living in Australia. He worked on various projects, including small movies, commercials and is also playing Adrian Ivashkov in the Golden Lily, The Indigo Spell and The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead) trailers. (check links of his work at the end of this post)

Nic Wheeler est un acteur, mannequin et artiste vivant en Australie. Il a travaillé sur différents projets, dont de petits films, des pubs et il joue aussi le rôle d’Adrian Ivashkov dans les trailers des livres The Golden Lily, The Indigo Spell et The Fiery Heart (la série Bloodlines de Richelle Mead). Tracey: What was your favourite part of filming The Fiery Heart Teaser Trailers?

Nic Wheeler: My fav part was the behind the scenes joking around, it made me laugh scaring the crap out of Daisy, you can see the videos on my insta @ whee1er.

Tracey: In The Fiery Heart we see quite a different side to Adrian where we find out that he is possibly Bipolar, did you guys show much of his “different” behaviour in the Trailers? And as an actor how much of a challenge was it for you to play this different side to him?

Nic Wheeler: We do see a bit more, it was a bit odd yelling in the street at the top of my lungs , but I really got into it, the thing is I dont think it is that hard to go there to that emotional place, because I have been there before… and it isnt good.

Tracey: After the ending to The Fiery Heart, what are you hoping for Adrian and Sydney in Silver Shadows?

Nic Wheeler: I dont want to put any spoilers into the world so its hard to say but I am always rooting for him to do heroic things ….

Tracey: Have you seen any of the Trailers/pictures/stills for the Vampire Academy movie? If so what is your opinion of what you have seen so far?

Nic Wheeler: I have and it looks really good, i think they put together a great cast and it looks pretty entertaining.. im looking forward to seeing it.

Tracey: How is it working with Daisy Masterman? You two always seem to have alot of fun filming the Teaser Trailers!!

Nic Wheeler: We do have a lot of fun, we chat occasionally throughout the year and its good to see that she is doing well; we kinda always just pick up where we left off.

Tracey: You have alot of Talent and interests in quite a few things: Painting, Sculpting, Acting, Modelling and of course your Motorcycle to name a few. You are very artistic, was it always a decision to vary out in different career paths to find out the one that you liked best? Do you have a favourite thing you enjoy doing in your job?

Nic Wheeler: Jeez really hit at the heart of things…. ok well to me, life is a kinda of buffet so many delicious things on offer i find it hard not to do alot of things because i have a taste for them and when I dont give myself time to have them, i starve…. creatively in all truth though its a struggle because I feel like i should pick one thing and do it really well, but I just like doing all sorts of stuff and I struggle to put myself in one box because they all give me so much personal satisfaction. When I was growing up people always said what do you want to do when you get older… to me this is a false paradigm looking back. They say it takes 7 years to really master something that means that you could literally choose like 9 things you want to do when you get older and master them all. I have a niece now and I will be telling her- give the things you love a few years each master many things in life and dont live in one box. My favorite thing is just creating really. Film, modeling, sculpting building its all creating and I enjoy that part the best.

Tracey: Qu’est-ce que vous avez le plus aimé lors du tournage des trailers de The Fiery Heart ?

Nic Wheeler: J’ai préféré tous ces moments dans les coulisses où on s’amusait bien, j’ai bien ri à faire peur Daisy, vous pouvez voir les vidéos sur mon compte instagram @whee1er.

Tracey: Dans The Fiery Heart, on voit un côté différent d’Adrian, car on découvre qu’il est peut-être bipolaire, montrez-vous beaucoup ce comportement « différent » dans les trailers ? En tant qu’acteur, était-ce difficile de jouer cet aspect différent de sa personnalité ?

Nic Wheeler: On le voit un peu plus, c’était un peu bizarre de crier dans la rue à pleins poumons, mais je me suis pris au jeu, car je pense qu’il n’est pas difficile d’arriver à cet état émotionnel, je suis passé par là…et ce n’est pas bien.

Tracey: Après la fin de The Fiery Heart, qu’espérez-vous pour Adrian et Sydney dans Silver Shadows ?

Nic Wheeler: Je ne veux pas dévoiler de spoilers donc c’est dur à dire mais je suis toujours pour qu’il fasse des choses héroïques…

Tracey: Avez-vous vu les trailers/photos/stills du film Vampire Academy ? Si oui, qu’en pensez-vous pour le moment ?

Nic Wheeler: J’ai regardé et cela semble vraiment bien,  je pense qu’ils ont rassemblé un casting génial et cela semble plutôt divertissant…j’ai hâte de le voir.

Tracey: Comment ça se passe le travail avec Daisy Masterman ? Vous semblez beaucoup vous amuser lors des tournages des trailers !

Nic Wheeler: On s’amuse beaucoup, on parle de temps en temps pendant l’année et c’est chouette de voir qu’elle se porte bien, on repart à chaque fois de là où on s’est arrêtés.

Tracey:  Vous avez beaucoup de talents et vous vous intéressez à beaucoup de choses : la peinture, a sculpture, la comédie, le mannequinat et bien sûr, votre moto, pour n’en citer que quelqu’unes. Vous êtes un artiste, avez-vous toujours voulu varier votre parcours professionnel afin de trouver ce que vous aimiez le plus ? Que préférez-vous faire dans votre travail ?

Tracey: Punaise, on va au cœur des choses…d’accord, selon moi, la vie ressemble à un buffet avec  plusieurs choses délicieuses à manger, il est dur de ne pas me lancer dans plusieurs choses car j’aime ces différentes facettes, et si je ne me donne pas le temps de les faire, je souffre…pour dire la vérité, au niveau créatif, c’est une lutte car j’ai l’impression de devoir choisir une chose et la faire bien, mais j’aime toucher un peu à tout et je ne parviens pas à me limiter à un domaine car ils me donnent tous tellement de satisfaction personnelle. En grandissant,  les gens me demandaient : « Que veux-tu faire plus tard ? », c’est un contre-exemple en y repensant. On dit qu’il faut 7 ans pour maîtriser un sujet, ce qui veut dire que vous pourriez choisir 9 choses à faire en grandissant et les maîtriser. J’ai une nièce à présent et je lui dirai : « Prends quelques années pour faire ce que tu aimes, maîtrises beaucoup de choses dans la vie et ne te limites pas à un domaine. »  Ce que j’aime par-dessus tout, c’est créer. Comédie, mannequinat, sculpture, tout revient à la création et c’est ce que je préfère.

Exclusive interview: Adrian and Em from Nic Wheeler for Adrian Ivashkov

Adrian and Em, the two persons behind Nic Wheeler for Adrian Ivashkov (who plays Adrian in the Bloodlines series trailers) have accepted to answer a few questions, in order to promote Nic Wheeler for the hopefully next Vampire Academy movie, Frostbite. Check them out, guys, they are doing an awesome job!

Are you two fans of both The Vampire Academy Series and Bloodlines? Or do you just prefer Bloodlines?

Adrian: I love them both. I didn’t really intend to read Bloodlines after I finished reading, but I started to love Adrian and wanted him to be happy.

Em: After Adrian, literally, threw Vampire Academy at me, and when he told me there was a spinoff, I started to read it and fell in love.

What made you guys want to start a Facebook page dedicated to Nic?

Adrian: Em had a Facebook page already dedicated to Adrian Ivashkov, and when we heard about Nic playing Adrian in the Bloodlines trailers, we decided to make a page to promote him.

Em: I thought he was gorgeous and the perfect Adrian and I needed something to do with my dead Adrian Ivashkov page.

How did you guys hear about Nic?

Adrian: Nic posted on Em’s Adrian page the link to the video about the contest to get the Golden Lily scenes shot.

Em: Yeah.. What Adrian said.

How would you guys best describe Nic?

Adrian: Down to earth, awesome, talented.. Em knows him better so I’m sure she has more to say.

Em: Like Adrian said, Nic is extremely down to earth and talented. He loves to include his fans in his life and try to take time to do stuff with and for them. Not to mention, he’s totally gorgeous.

You guys are awesome with all your promotion that you do for Nic, how do you guys come up with your various ideas?

Adrian: A lot of it is Em, most of the time. Every now and then I’ll see the page is getting slow and talk with Em about what we can do to liven it up.

Em: I try to keep the page professional and mostly about Nic, and occasionally about Vampire Academy since that’s what most of our fans are from.. But I just try to think of stuff the fans would like and have fun with, but still include Nic.

What is it that you guys saw in Nic that made you immediately think he would be a great Adrian Ivashkov?

Adrian: I was actually wary of Nic as Adrian with that first video because he looked really tan. And then he opened his mouth. Instantly Adrian Ivashkov.

Em: He’s everything the fans used to describe Adrian Ivashkov; Sexy, gorgeous, witty, charming, etc.

How long have you guys been running the Fan Page for? And, are there any future projects that you guys have planned?

Adrian: A year and about four months. I’m not sure what we have planned.. Em?

Em: Yeah, obviously we’ve been running the page for the same amount of time.. As for future plans, we’ve already posted something for fans to pass out at the Vampire Academy first showing/premieres, and there is an event going on over in Melbourne that Nic is attending for fans to go see the movie with him and help promote him. As for anything past that.. we’re still planning. I’m trying to get the website up.

Adrian: Je les aime toutes les deux. Je n’avais pas l’intention de lire Bloodlines après Vampire Academy mais je me suis mis à aimer Adrian et à vouloir le voir heureux.

Em: Après qu’Adrian m’ait littéralement balancé Vampire Academy à la figure et quand il m’a dit qu’il y avait un spin-off, j’ai commencé à les lire et je suis tombée sous le charme.

Qu’est-ce qui vous a poussé à ouvrir une page Facebook sur Nic?

Adrian: Em avait déjà une page Facebook dédiée à Adrian Ivashkov et quand on a entendu parler de Nic, qui jouait Adrian dans les trailers de Bloodlines, on a décidé d’ouvrir une page pour  le promouvoir.

Em: J’ai pensé qu’il était magnifique et le parfait Adrian et je devais faire quelque chose de ma page sur Adrian Ivashkov, qui était à l’abandon.

Comment avez-vous entendu parler de Nic?

Adrian: Nic a posté sur la page d’Em, le lien pour le concours qui permettait de filmer des scènes de The Golden Lily.

Em: Oui. Ce qu’Adrian vient de dire.

Comment décririez-vous Nic?

Adrian: Terre-à-terre, merveilleux, talentueux…Em le connait mieux que moi donc je suis sûr qu’elle peut en dire plus.

Em: Comme Adrian l’a dit, Nic est vraiment terre-à-terre et talentueux. Il aime inclure ses fans dans sa vie et il essaie de prendre le temps pour eux. Et ne parlons pas du fait qu’il est beau.

Vous êtes géniaux pour toute la promotion que vous faites autour de Nic, comment trouvez-vous toutes ces idées?

Adrian: La plupart du temps, c’est Em qui les trouve. De temps à temps, je vois la page qui ralentit et j’en parle avec Em pour la rendre plus vivante.

Em: J’essaie de garder une page professionnelle et la plupart du temps sur Nic, on parle parfois de VA puisque la plupart de nos fans viennent de là….Mais j’essaie de trouver des choses qui feraient plaisir aux fans, tout en incluant Nic.

Qu’avez-vous vu en Nic qui vous a fait immédiatemment penser à Adrian Ivashkov?

Adrian: J’étais un peu hésitant de voir Nic en Adrian dans sa première vidéo car il était vraiment bronzé. Et puis, il a ouvert la bouche. Direct, c’était Adrian Ivashkov.

Em: Il représente tout ce que les fans disent d’Adrian Ivashkov. Sexy, magnifique, drôle, charmant…

Depuis combien de temps tenez-vous votre page? Avez-vous de futurs projets ?

Adrian: A peu près un an et 4 mois. Je ne suis pas sûr de ce qu’on a prévu…Em ?

Em: Oui, on tient évidemment cette page depuis ce temps…En ce qui concerne de futurs projets, on a déjà posté quelque chose que les fans peuvent transmettre lors des avant-premières de Vampire Academy et il y a un événement qui va se dérouler à Melbourne en présence de Nic, pour que les fans aillent voir le film avec lui et lui fassent de la pub. A part ça, on est encore en projet, j’essaie de lancer le site web.
